Students apply classroom learning to real-work situations through internships. The region offers a wealth of employment opportunities, as well as internships with organizations like Dorothy Pecaut Nature Center, Great West Casualty Company, Sioux City Explorers, Juvenile Court Services, Sioux City Police Department, Habitat for Humanity, numerous radio and television stations and Siouxland YMCA. Many students also do internships in their hometowns.

Briar Cliff University Graduates
BCU students enter graduate school or are employed in their fields at the impressive rate of 90 percent within six months of graduation. Briar Cliff students are accepted by first-rate graduate schools, such as Arizona State University, Colorado State, Creighton University, Des Moines University, Drake University, Illinois Institute of Art in Chicago, Northwestern College of Chiropractic, Palmer College of Chiropractic, University of Iowa, University of Notre Dame and the University of Nebraska.

Briar Cliff is accredited as a degree-granting institution by the Higher Learning Commission and is a member of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. The education program of the University is approved by the State Department of Education of Iowa for the certification of teachers. The social work program is accredited by the Council on Social Work Education. The nursing program is accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission and the State of Iowa Board of Nursing.
